Bra sizes are the opposite of school grades—you actually want Ds.
But then things got complemented with double letters, and then triple letters, and then Js, and then numbers. Now you have to contact CalTech just to find out what the hell a 40JJJ is (and then you realize they’ve likely never seen a pair of boobs that wasn’t pixelated).
But female Reddit users are taking this complex system into their own hands, starting a movement called “A Bra That Fits”.
The thread, used by over 12,000 women, “is dedicated to helping women find their correct breast shape and true bra size, while offering measuring and shopping advice.”
The movement comes from the fact that “[a]ccording to a 2011 study, 85per cent of women are wearing the wrong size bras.”
Companies are following suit, too.
Jockey, a huge manufacturer of bras, is abandoning the letter system in favor of a new numbered system based on “under-bust measurement”.
We offer measurement services as a public service, since this seems like an epidemic. Send us an email and we’ll be in touch! 😉
