Everyone imagines “hackers” as some ubersecret network of guys facing walls of computers who are slightly autistic.
It was the subject of many a-terrified 90s movie with that same goddamn green computer-type font on the VHS cover.
In reality, anyone, even just a CS student, can be a hacker.
For instance, someone hacked into the Florida State University Panama City network (unfortunately not called “The Canal’):
Benjamin Blouin, 26, admitted to hacking the college’s network because he wanted to illustrate the security flaws in the system… [he] never denied redirecting users, but he said he didn’t choose the site they would be redirected to.
That’s an interesting excuse, considering that, for users who tried to access the system, “meatspin.com was the default website on the app he used.”
Don’t go there right now.
Trust me.
