Why the Jenny McCarthy, anti-vaccine movement is dangerous

One of the main vaccines children get when they’re born is the MMR vaccine, which prevents measles, mumps, and rubella for life.

These are three major diseases which plagued children as early as a few decades ago, and have now been successfully eradicated…until now:

Britain is experiencing serious outbreaks of measles that look to be a delayed consequence of a failure to vaccinate infants and young children more than a decade ago.

What’s the reason for this? How could infants and young children fail to get vaccinated?

A prime cause of that failure was ill-founded fears among parents that a widely used vaccine to combat measles, mumps and rubella might cause autism. Because they shunned the vaccine, their children, now in their teens, are suffering the consequences.

This is what happens when parents take health advice from celebrities and quacks.

The autism study was discredited as an “elaborate fraud”. And now, instead of being afflicted with autism, children are afflicted with…measles.

Gee, who woulda thunk it?

Parents, if you want to protect your kids, listen to doctors, not people whose degree is in “communications” (if they even have one).
