Instead of passing bills to fix California’s gaping hole of a budget, reforming pensions, fixing broken streets/highways, rooting out government corruption, the California legislature is focusing on IMPORTANT ISSUES:
A bill requiring the use of condoms on adult film production sets across California has stalled in the state Assembly, while separate legislation to expand the distribution of condoms in prisons is moving forward to a floor vote on Wednesday.
According to Assemblyman Isadore Hall, Democrat from Compton:
“Assemblymember Mike Gatto has put porn profits above the need to protect workers in California. He gives a whole new meaning to the term ‘money shot.’”
It’s one of those moments when you just drop everything you’re doing, stare out the window, and wonder just what sort of hell we’re living in.
But don’t forget—things can get better:
Meanwhile, a bill introduced by Assemblyman Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, that would make condoms available in state prisons unanimously passed the Appropriations committee. Bonta has said that while sexual activity is illegal in prisons, it does occur, increasing the risk of HIV. His bill, AB 999 included results of a pilot program conducted inside Solano State Prison that showed that when condoms are distributed, they are used.
Add “free condoms” to another reason why going to prison is better than living on the outside.
And then we wonder why the state we live in is nearly one trillion dollars in debt.
