The “dream” life of Google interns

Being an intern at Google has to be every tech nerd’s wet dream.

You get to work at one of the most powerful companies in the world, on a one-of-a-kind campus in the Bay Area, with a huge stipend, a shot at a full-time Google job, and bragging rights to everyone else working at measly summer jobs.

Google has put a huge push out to get more talent each year, even going as far as creating a feature film with “The Internship”, the Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson comedy this summer that flopped (reviews said “[p]roduct placement is one thing; building a whole movie around the glorification of a multinational corporation is something else entirely”, calling it a film-length infomercial).

The bloom is off the rose.

Residents of the San Jose apartment complex Crescent Village have had to face the brunt of Google interns this summer, since “hundreds of Google’s summer interns moved into company-sponsored apartments in the complex and began disturbing the peace.”

As a result, the tony Crescent Village community has become “like a dorm” during summer months, forcing residents to close their windows to avoid the noise.

Interns have commandeered the community pools and hot tubs, forcing one to be closed after one recent blowout party.

According to one resident, “[t]he situation is pretty bad. There are a lot of parties even in the middle of the week and security is unable to do anything.”

It just goes to show, Google interns: you may have this perfect and wonderful best summer ever, but absolutely nobody wants to hear about it.
