James Rosen, Fox News reporter, attracted the eye of the Department of Justice when he delivered a report on North Korea in 2009.
Rosen was, unbeknownst to him, accused of being an “aider, abetter, and/or co-conspirator” in a leak of information and his personal emails were tapped.
US Attorney Ronald C. Machen wanted to keep this a secret from Rosen, who “should not have been notified because it risked compromising the investigation”.
However, two judges “separately stated that, even if delayed, the Department of Justice was required to notify Rosen (who was not indicted) about the searches”.
It’s disturbing that the Obama administration tapped into the emails of a reporter without notifying the reporter of the warrant. And the evidence keeps coming forth, showing that continual efforts were made to keep it secret.
