The NRA just released a new ad in response to the political, legislative, and celebrity push to ban high-capacity gun magazine. The ad shoots straight at claims that banning those magazines will lower crime, providing a simple argument: when you outlaw high-capacity magazines (rounds of bullet, not issues of Vogue which are equally deadly) then
madmen, drug cartels, and home-invading killers will still get them from the same black market that sells drugs, stolen cars, and everything else that criminals buy. It’s just the rest of us, the law-abiding, average people who will have to defend our families with limited capacity magazines.
Really, is there any possible refutation to that argument? No, there cannot be, and that’s why the interpretation by Andrew Kaczynski of Buzzfeed that the NRA “Predicts Dystopian Future” as a way of discrediting a legitimate ad is just laziness.
