Is Mexican Barbie racist?

Yahoo! Shine has a new article up entitled “Barbies of the World: Realistic or Racist?”

They present it as such:

There are more than 200 Barbies in Mattel’s Dolls of the World collection, all dressed in costumes that pay homage to different countries. The collection debuted in 1980 with Parisian, British, and Italian dolls, but the more-modern versions are causing controversy now: The 2013 Mexico Barbie, in particular, has been called out by critics for being offensive rather than educational.

How is it so offensive? Because Mexican Barbie is holding…a Chihuahua!

First of all, no critics are listed, so we can’t find and embarrass these likely-white individuals.

Second of all, Chihuahua isn’t just a dog, it’s a state in Mexico. Chinese Barbie is holding a Pekingese, named after Beijing’s original name of Peking.

Both of these Barbies are holding dogs and animals native to their homelands. Who could take offense at that (except busybody white people)?

It’s not like Mexican Barbie is holding an oversized rat or Chinese Barbie is holding a dog on a rotisserie.

It’s a stupid waste of air to get offended over crap like this. And that those who do get offended are too spineless to show themselves. Read the comments to see how real people react (the phrase “big deal” makes a repeat appearance, among Mexicans and non-Mexicans alike).

Twenty bucks they pull the doll because of “sensitivities” or some bullshit, and then Barbie is blamed for not having a Mexican doll and being racist for not being inclusive.
