In the headline emblazoned across Mother Jones:
Billionaires Secretly Funded Vast Climate Denial Network
Apparently it wasn’t that good of a secret, since someone found out. Worst of all, they’re denying the existence of a climate?
If you told someone in any part of the 20th century up to 1990 that someone else was a billionaire, they would respond with enormous admiration for an individual who likely worked their whole life to achieve something exceptional.
Now, “billionaire” equals “evil”. And it begets a battery of rhetorical questions:
- What are they doing with all that money?
- What would *I* do with all that money?
- I would give it all to the poor. THEY’RE not giving every cent of their hard-earned money directly and immediately to the poor?
- THEY’RE CLEARLY EVIL
Mother Jones’s Suzanne Goldenberg classifies money given to non-socialist interest groups twice in this article, as “the dark money”.
That’s clearly racist.
