You know, it’s like kids these days have never even seen an episode of Judge Judy. You piss off or disrespect the judge, and you face consequences.
Which is what Penelope Soto, arrested for illegal possession of anti-anxiety medication, learned the hard way:
Soto, as she exited the court room, cursed at the judge and flashed him her middle finger. He called her back to verify what she had just said. Once he did, she got what was likely the shock of her week when he said, “I find you in direct criminal contempt. Thirty days in the county jail.”
Since then, Soto has straightened up her life: apologizing to the judge, getting a job, working towards her GED, and passing all her drug tests.
It goes to show—a little tough love goes a long way.
