Obamacare: not sunshine and rainbows

Remember when celebrities argued for Obamacare with insipid ad campaigns and proclaimed that they supported Obamacare because “everyone should have access to healthcare”?

Lawmakers soon listed off promises Obamacare would offer: it would lower costs, it would lower premiums, it would help those on Medicare.

Except that, now that the bill has passed, we’ve discovered the following:

• It won’t control health costs.
• It won’t lower premiums for everyone.
• It won’t reduce emergency room usage amongst the poor.
• It may not make low-income Medicaid beneficiaries healthier or happier.
• It won’t get rid of “uncompensated care”.

These aren’t just right-wing talking points either—these are concerns and studies raised after Obamacare has passed by liberal sources and supporters of the law.

Surprise!

It’s almost as if the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act doesn’t protect patients or make care more affordable.

Oh, and *psssssst*

The PPACA was supposed to help women, increasing access to and quality of healthcare.

In fact:

The [Obamacare] task force has already restricted routine mammogram access for women as well as screenings for cervical and ovarian cancers. Medicare cuts will also hurt women and reduce their ability to find primary-care physicians and receive proper preventative care.

Whoops!

Looks like the “War on Women” is being waged by the people who keep arguing its existence.
