Joust Goudriaaaaaaaaaaaaan [citation needed], a Dutch street artist, has done something non-destructive with modern art: made ugly street furniture into objects of beauty.
His largest display: a bus bench covered with leather and nailhead trim, looking like a fine English manor chair.
He also made a trash bin out of antique wood, a traffic sign with silk, and gilded a street grate.
The installations didn’t quite stand up to the rigor of everyday use, but it’s fascinating to see how a little upgrade goes a long way.
