Conservative Site ‘Daily Caller’ Mentions Ashley Judd Did Nude Scenes

According to Arturo Garcia of Raw Story (not as exciting as you’d think), “The conservative news site The Daily Caller mocked actress and activist Ashley Judd on Sunday night for doing nude scenes in her films.”

Well, let’s just be glad it wasn’t her sister Wynonna.

Here is the chiding/mocking:

“We are used to knowing just about everything there is to know about serious political candidates,” entertainment editor Taylor Bigler said. “But will Judd be the first potential senator who has — literally — nothing left to show us?”

It’s not chiding, nor is it mocking. She’s shown more skin than even Scott Brown.

Citing Mr.Skin.com, a site that specializes in cataloging celebrity on-screen nudity, Bigler offered an inventory of Judd’s nude scenes, saying, “The actress has bared her breasts in several films and has had some raunchy sex scenes in others.”

Which is…fact. It’s not chiding nor mocking. They didn’t say “she whipped a titty out in a film because she’s just a sex maniac”. They said “she’s been nude in films, and would be the first senator to do so”.

Alyssa Rosenberg, in an article entitled “Theatrical Slut-Shaming: Daily Caller Attacks Ashley Judd for Nude Scenes” chimed in, slamming the Daily Caller:

“It may come as a surprise to the Daily Caller, but actresses don’t generally take their clothes off on-screen as an expression of some sort of groovy seventies lifestyle, or as a way to have sex with people who are not their spouses or partners,” Rosenberg wrote. “Rather, getting asked to take off some or all of your clothes is, for a lot of actors, a frequent requirement of the job, and something that until recently, tended to be asked of women more frequently than men.”

The first part is a strawman that would make Oz’s Scarecrow look miniscule in comparison.

Taking off your clothes to act is not a requirement of any job unless your name is Kandi. Judd was not blackmailed or forced to do nude scenes—she chose to appear in movies that featured them. It’s not like someone started filming her in her bathroom.

And the sexism argument is just ridiculous. The Greeks performed entirely in the nude (men only). Artistic qualities dictated having more nude women in movies than men. The public does not go to the movies to see wieners. They go to see boobs, but now since every movie has boobs, and you can watch porn at home, nobody goes to the movies anymore.

P.S. “Slut-shaming” is the new code word of feminists to say “we’re whores, but don’t call us that”.

Rosenberg continues:

Attacking Judd for her nude scenes is part and parcel of the right’s current strategy to discredit promising female advocates. Like Rush Limbaugh’s attacks on Sandra Fluke, the Caller’s attempts to impugn Judd as an exhibitionist are an attempt to make her seem less serious by impugning her sexual chastity (that this tactic remains in the playbook is a whole other world of crazy). But the evidence is even more specious and pathetic here. Fluke, who became engaged shortly after enduring nationally-broadcast attacks on her character, stumped for birth control access in the real world. Judd took her clothes off as part of fiction. The Daily Caller may not know the difference, but voters do. And Judd, who already knows a thing or two about the insanity of media scrutiny, is getting a real, and sadly valuable education in what you have to be willing to take if you want to be active in American public life as a woman.

If the best female advocates you can find are an airhead actress who gets naked and a woman demanding the government pays for her birth control, then feminists should be embarrassed.

Susan B. Anthony is rolling around in her grave.
